Literary Tourism 2015: Unfolding A Fold in the River

Event Date May 9, 2015 2 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

Location – Quakers Yard, Merthyr Tydfil

Poet Professor Philip Gross and artist Valerie Coffin Price walk the alluvial landscape of the middle reaches of the Taff, exploring their collaboration in the 2015 title A Fold in the River (Seren). Reflecting on this unexpectedly beautiful and secret corner of the South Wales Valleys, they will consider its physicality, traces of its industrial social history and artistic responses to it, whilst unfurling the experience of working together.

Participants are welcome to enjoy the walk itself, or come equipped with notebooks, sketch-pads or smart phones to engage creatively with the place, community and experience. Free pick-ups from Quakers Yard Railway Station are available upon advance request.

Start / Finish point: Taff Trail signpost, junction of Tram Road Side /
Rodericks Terrace, Quakers Yard, Merthyr Tydfil, CF46 5AW

Ticket price: £15.00 / £13.50
