Holocaust Memorial Day 2022 | Dr Mike Chick

Dr Mike Chick - Holocaust Memorial Day, Cynon Valley Museum

Dr Mike Chick was invited to be a guest speaker at Cynon Valley Museum on 26, January 2022 for a panel discussion commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day 2022.

Dr Chick has worked in language teaching for over twenty-five years and is the University's Refugee Champion. He was joined by  Abi Cater, Founding director of Forensic Resources Ltd and Co-chair of the Wales board of Remembering Srebrenica; and Dr Daryl Lee Worthy a writer and historian, and the Rhys Davies Research Fellow at the South Wales Miners’ Library at Swansea University.

The event focused on this year’s theme, “One Day”, to remember and learn about the Holocaust, Nazi Persecution and the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

“It was great to once again work with Rhondda Cynon Taff BC on issues as important as remembering holocausts and the need to create inclusive, diverse societies in which everyone has a voice," said Dr Mike Chick. "Events such as these really do contribute to the Welsh Government’s ambition of being Nation of Sanctuary.”
